I love fresh-squeezed juice. It's the first thing I make most mornings and the only thing I really crave before 10am. I get a little excited about drinking a huge swig of nutrients (without chomping on massive amounts of fibrous, nearly-impossible-to-chew leaves) before I even leave the house. Besides, it makes me feel good. And I am a much more pleasant person to be around when my temperament is on an even keel.
Kale is my favorite food to juice. Not because of its flavor, but because of its powerful effects. It balances blood sugar, hydrates and detoxifies the body, boosts the immune system, protects against illness and disease, lowers cholesterol levels, and is great for skin and vision, among other things. I prefer to juice it rather than eat it in a salad only because it is easier to digest when consumed in liquid form. My latest cocktail of choice consists of 1 head of kale leaves, 2 carrots, 2 apples, 2 stalks of celery, and a 2 inch slice of ginger root. Most recently, I have added a carrot/apple/ginger elixir to the house menu.
I use an Omega Juicer. You can get pretty creative and throw some of your favorite fresh fruits and vegetables into it. I still haven't tried fresh cherry juice but keep telling myself I will next time I get my hands on those round little gems during their season and then I will compose a fancy post about my unadulterated love for cherries. Just you wait. If you have ideas of your own, let me know. I'm always looking for new ones.

Beautiful photography-- great mix of colors, makes everything look delicious :)
