After a week of travel, long work days and hasty eating on-the-go just to sustain my energy, I could not wait to get home and pour myself a tall glass of greens to replenish my body with a bevy of vitamins. The concoction I threw together is comprised mostly of veggies and spruced up with sweet, juicy pears so delicious I ended up eating half of one while cutting it up for the smoothie. I'm still thinking about that dang pear and wish my refrigerator was stocked with a dozen of them right now.
After posting the first blog of 2014, I realized I just skipped right over the New Year without even mentioning it because 1) I don't ever really make too much of a fuss over it and 2) I like going to bed WAY before midnight rolls around. Staying up late is painful for this early bird. But as I sat on the plane last week, I had some time to think about the past 12 months and what they meant for me. 2013 is probably my favorite year yet. Not because it was all smooth sailing, but because it contained more growth, awakenings, challenge, fun, change, laughter, adventure, love, lessons, endings, beginnings and creativity than all the years before it combined.
I have a wild, evolving love affair with words. The inventive way they arrange themselves in sentences has the ability to completely shift my perspective and open my eyes to things not yet seen before their humble display. Now I will share with you a few quotes that touch upon 2013's lessons before leaving you to enjoy the detoxifying green thing I am now calling my Winter Green Smoothie.
